Brighton Hen Day Ideas
There is much more to Brighton than just its amazing beach! This is the type of place that’s perfect for a fun-filled hen weekend. There’s a great mix of cool activities; some will be a laugh and some will really push you. In all, this seaside town is a magnet for ladies who want to experience a fabulous time!
The Top Three Hen Day Activities
Our Top Hen Party Ideas
Here are the most popular hen day activities here
Here are the six most popular hen day activities on offer here. There are so many things to do in the town that narrowing it down to just six was tough!
There may be one or two of you who don’t fancy the idea of a pole dancing lesson but this is becoming one of the most booked activities all over the country! This is a brilliant laugh and I’m sure you girls will have an amazing time as you get your ‘sexy on’ and learn how to shake it up the pole and then back down again! This is quite challenging and falling on your bum (and watching your friends do the same) is all part of the fun.
I’m sure there’ll be at least one girl in your hen group who remembers It's a Knockout, the madcap TV show from the 1970s. This was a wild, over-the-top programme similar to modern shows such as Takeshi’s Castle and Total Wipeout. You ladies will be put into teams (or just one team if there’s not enough for two) and then take part in all sorts of crazy games. Most of them involve you getting absolutely soaked or dressing up in big inflatable suits. If you enjoy having fun, this activity is just perfect!
Downing a few dozen cocktails is something that is expected on a hen day but here’s something that will take your love of cocktails to the next level. You can actually learn how to mix, pick the right ingredients and make tasty and refreshing concoctions in this cocktail making masterclass! You’ll spend time with a fun-loving bartender who, as well as teaching you the ropes, will tell stories about his time as a bartender. It’s lots of fun and of course you’ll be doing a whole lot of ‘sampling’ as you learn! This is a great way to mix drinking with an activity that gets you all doing something together.
Next, I’ve got an activity that is perfectly suited for you speed demons but also loads of fun for those who have never even driven before! Go Karting is not just for loud and obnoxious petrolheads; it’s also really popular with hen groups. This is a great way to try karting as the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a blast and, for any non-drivers, they’ll teach you the basics of how to operate a go kart.
One of my favourite activities to recommend for a hen group is a game of archery. It is easy to learn the basics of archery so within a few minutes your hen party will be ready to go! I was with some people who had never tried archery before and they had a ball! You really feel like some mean warrior princess the first time you fire an arrow at the target! To make this even more fun (and maybe to have a few drinks at stake), make sure that someone is keeping score so the winner can claim a prize and the loser has to do some sort of forfeit!
Us girls are always being told that we have a sweet tooth. Well, there’ll be no resistance or grumbling if you book a chocolate making class for your hen group. This was a huge hit with everyone in my party and in some ways it felt as if we were teenagers again, messing around in a home economics class! The truffles that we made were beyond amazing!!!! Well actually, the ones my friend Lisa made were … mine not so much!
We Are Not Done With Brighton Yet!
There is way more to do in town so here are some more ideas for you foxy ladies!
‘Is that not just for guys?’ asked a friend (who I’ll not name and shame!) when I told her we were going to try paintballing. What is this – 1955? Paintballing is as much fun for ladies as it is for guys and it’s becoming very popular with hen groups. Go Ballistic will organise a great day for you. You will have all the latest paintballing gear, including the safety equipment, so even though it stings a bit when you get shot, you won’t die! What I loved was how they introduced all sorts of different themes for us to act out such as zombies, war and adventures.
Next, we go from rolling around in the woods shooting each other to rolling onto our stomachs and having a top-class deep tissue massage at the Grand Brighton Spa. Wow, this place is just heaven and being pampered with various treatments that will all make you feel and look amazing is just what is required on a hen day. If you want to look and feel your best on your hen night, this is the perfect place.
This next selection may sound a bit predictable but I don’t care! The Pier is amazing and it really doesn’t matter if you are 6, 16, 26 or like me 3 … let’s just say 29! Brighton Pier is a great place to visit for a few hours. There are games to play, food to eat, cocktails to drink and it’s just really cool to go for a walk there and have a bite to eat with your friends.
Finally, I have something that will really test your limits – bungee jumping! I know this sounds scary but the feeling you get when you do it is just indescribable. The jump is set up in the marina so you get the most amazing view of the coastline and sea when you take your leap of faith. This is a brilliant bonding experience as you will be all cheering each other and offering shouts of encouragement. It may be different and unusual but doing something out of your comfort zone is always a good idea on a Brighton hen day.
Places To Eat & Things To See
Here is a mini-guide with some essential information to ensure that your hen day is amazing and runs nice and smoothly.
Best Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially on a hen weekend, as it sets you up for your activities! I would recommend the Seven Bees Café which offers both a full English breakfast and some lighter options as well.
A Nice Lunch
We found the Green Chair by chance but it was so nice, friendly and cheap that we had lunch here on both days! This is a small and intimate place with a diverse menu. I highly recommend that you try the sweet potato and chicken. It was amazeballs!
Getting A Cab
Getting from A to B can be a hassle when, 1) you don’t know where the hell B is, and 2) you’ve had one too many daytime cocktails (it happens to the best of us, don’t feel bad). Well, there are loads of taxi firms such as City Cabs and Brighton Taxis.
What Is The Worst Time To Come Here?
I’m sure you’ll want to make sure that you don’t come here when it’s too busy! As a seaside resort, this is a very popular tourist destination and during the school holidays it seems as if the place is full of screaming kids! So, for a bit of personal space, it may be best to avoid the school holidays!
Does Brighton Have Any Festivals?
The city is home to one of the best festivals in the world – the Brighton Festival. Here, you’ll find all kinds of music, live performances, stalls and artsy-type stuff. The Brighton Fringe Festival is also really cool and this attracts people from all over the country. There are many smaller festivals going on in Brighton all the time so it’s worth seeing if one is taking place during your hen weekend.
I Need Some Medicine!!!! (Where Are The Pharmacies?)
Hey, we can all stumble and twist our ankle when we’ve had a few too many on the beach. If you need some painkillers or bandages, there are several places you can go. The easiest and probably the largest is the Asda Superstore which has a pharmacy inside.
