The Best Hen Night Activities In Edinburgh
Check out these amazing Edinburgh hen night ideas! Actually, these are the six most popular activities that the city has to offer.
I’m going to suggest that you begin your Edinburgh hen night by going to see some hunky guys do their thing … and take their clothes off. What I love about a night at The Dreamboys is that, firstly, they are all bloody gorgeous blokes and they have muscles in places where most guys don’t even have places! Secondly, they also know how to whip a crowd of ladies into a frenzy and they put on a fantastic show. You can get a really good hen night package here with drinks and food and you can also make sure that the bride-to-be gets a little bit of special attention! This is just a wonderful night and a huge hit with hen parties all over the UK!
I’ve been on a few Ghost Walks in my time but few have genuinely creeped me out like this one did in Edinburgh. To start with, they have a few different walks or tours; for example, one walk sees you walking the streets and going to the most haunted places while another sees you go down to the underground catacombs. No matter which one you pick, I’m sure you’ll be terrified! I love all things scary but the fact that there is some truth mixed in with the tales of horror really does make these walks that extra bit frightening. If you’re a fan of horror films, scary books or just generally weird stuff, then this is a brilliant hen night activity. It’s also very funny if there’s someone in your group who’s scared by anything … well, not funny for them, but funny for you!
Knowing which pubs and clubs to hit for an Edinburgh hen night can be really tough. Going from place to place can also be hard on your feet. Well, the Club Class Bus can solve both of these issues. First of all, they’ll pick the three best bars in Edinburgh to take you to and they’ll also get you VIP entry into a nightclub at the end of the night. There’s no ‘walking’ as this is a double-decker bus with loads of comfy seats, banging tunes, and staff who keep the party going. They even encourage you to bring your drinks on board. There’s no better way to go on an Edinburgh pub crawl than on board the awesome Club Class Bus!
While you may think that going to a casino is more of a ‘stag’ activity, the fact is that loads of hen groups have a great time doing a bit of gambling, having a few drinks and eating some nice food in a classy casino. At first, I wasn’t really sure if this was going to be my type of thing, but it was actually a great night. Even though I didn’t win big or anything like that, I did have heaps of fun playing the slot machines while a few of my friends tried their hand at some of the other games. And, if you don’t fancy gambling, you can just have a drink and a bite to eat while you watch your friends try their luck.
I’ve been to dozens of clubs over the last couple of years and let me tell you, none of them made my jaw hit the floor like Espionage. This is just a monster of a nightclub. It has five floors of dancing, drinking and ‘getting down’. It’s amazing how big this place is! There are smaller areas where you can go and have a good time or you can party it up in one of the larger halls. A night here might be knackering but I mean that in a good way! While there are loads of clubs in Edinburgh, this is the one that always has a huge crowd of people trying to get in. But, you girls can get yourselves on the guest list, skip the queue and avoid freezing your boobs off!
Next is a little sample from ‘across the pond’ as you sit down and enjoy a lovely meal in the New York Steam Packet. This is an awesome American Diner that serves all kinds of fabulous American-style food. I’m sure the huge hotdogs are the longest things you’ve ever had either in your hands or your mouth! The giant burgers are so big that you’ll need two hands to pick them up! Although they don’t serve alcohol, you can take your own beer or a nice bottle of wine or even some of the cheap plonk in a box from Asda! Or, as this is Scotland, you may want to have some Buckfast.
Even More Fun And Exciting Edinburgh Hen Night Ideas
Here are a few more fun things for you to get up to in Edinburgh!
If there’s one city in the UK that is known for its comedy, it’s Edinburgh and here’s one of its very best comedy clubs – The Stand. To say we had a brilliant time here would be a massive understatement. This is not a normal comedy club that only opens on weekends; it puts on some live comedy nearly every day. Some of the best names in comedy perform at The Stand and of course you can enjoy a few drinks while you watch the show.
Now I may get into trouble for this, but I think that outside the West End, The Edinburgh Playhouse is the best theatre in the UK. This theatre has managed to retain much of the old theatre charm that the Playhouse was renowned for but it also keeps up to date with state of the art lighting and sound systems. Some of the biggest West End shows are performed here. We were lucky enough to see Wicked but shows such as The Phantom Of The Opera and The Lion King have also been to the Playhouse. If you like the theatre, then you must check out the schedule here.
The Shack is a funky and ‘boss’ (remember when people used to say boss?) type of nightclub. This is all about taking a trip back in time to the funky 1970s, the synthesised music of the 1980s, the cheesy pop of the 1990s and everything in between. If you want a retro club night, then you simply cannot beat The Shack. This is one of those clubs that’s all about having a great time and I’m sure your hen night will be all the better for taking a trip here. It’s so cool because people like to get dressed up in the fashion of the different eras!
If you want more than to just see a live show … if you want to be the show, then why not try some karaoke? This is always a perfect hen night activity. I mean, what’s not to love? You can drink as much as you like and sing all your favourite songs (probably badly) but this isn’t about proving who’s the best singer, it’s just about having fun and spending some time with your friends. Some people may be dead set against singing, but once they’ve got a few glasses of wine inside them, they’ll be up and belting it out with the best of them.
Other Important Information About An Edinburgh Hen Night

Fine Dining In Edinburgh
I was amazed by The Stockbridge Restaurant – it’s just so good! This restaurant provides a fine dining experience with fabulous art on the walls and beautiful stone effect decor. Just about everything was stunning. The food was simply gorgeous with an authentic Scottish-style menu. I really cannot praise The Stockbridge Restaurant enough for its service, food and general atmosphere.
A Good Place To Eat
If fine dining is not really your thing and you just fancy a fun and easy place to eat, then you can’t go wrong with a three course meal at Bella Italia. This is the best (well I say it’s the best so it must be true) Italian restaurant chain in the UK … heck, maybe the world! Pizzas, pasta and spaghetti, as well as many other fabulous selections of Italian food, are all on offer here.
Late Night Taxis In Edinburgh
A night can soon run into the wee small hours when you’re on an Edinburgh hen night so what will you do? Drunkenly stumble about until you come across your hotel? Get picked up by the police for urinating in the street? Nah, there’s no need for that when you can ask a taxi firm such as Capital Cars to come and get you.
You Petted The Wild Life & Got Bitten! (A&E In Edinburgh)
If your Edinburgh hen night gets out of hand and someone breaks an ankle trying to table dance in high heels, there are a number of places where you can get some medical help.
Where To Watch A Band
If you want to catch a live gig then you’re in luck as there are loads of live venues in Edinburgh. I recommend that you check out who is playing at The Picture House. This is a really cool venue for bands that are up-and-coming as well as some big bands that are on their way down if you know what I mean.
A Nice Place To Chill Out
If you just want to have a few quiet cocktails and some good conversation (if that’s possible when you’re drunk), then The Dome is a really classy and chilled-out wine/cocktail bar where you can simply sit back and actually hear each other speak!
