Here are the most popular hen day activities in
I have selected the most popular Manchester hen day ideas so that no matter which one you pick, or if you pick them all, you’ll be in for a great time!
First up, I thought I’d get you ladies outside into the fresh air. Catton Hall is home to one of the best quad biking treks I’ve ever been on. I was with a couple of people who had never been on a quad bike before, but they were like pros in no time. This is not about racing, it’s all about going on a fun journey with your friends and just enjoying the outdoors.
Next is something which is considered to be one of the best tourist attractions in Manchester – The Chill Factore! And that ‘e’ at the end is not a typo, it stands for extreme! This is the best indoor snow slope in the UK … no, that’s not an advertising slogan, it really is! You girls can do a little bit of snowboarding or skiing here. They’ll give you a quick little lesson and then before you know it, it’s onto the slopes and most probably straight onto your backside! What’s weird is that falling is actually really funny … well, watching your friends fall is really funny. This is just a great day out and if you want to do an activity that is exclusive to Manchester, then a trip to The Chill Factore is a must.
Aerial Extreme is located in the Trafford Centre (yes, the shopping centre) and this is a high ropes course that is both challenging and fun and getting through it really does feel like one heck of an achievement. Of course, once you’re all done with the climbing, jumping and swinging, you girls can go and have some retail therapy in the amazing Trafford Centre. Climbing seemingly mile-high structures and then shopping – what more could a group of girls wish for?
Sticking with the climbing theme, why not try some amazing rock climbing? Actually, this is a 2-in-1 activity as you’ll be rock climbing going up and then abseiling your way down! This is done in a remote part of Manchester (well, barely Manchester) and the views are just amazing. It can be scary and it did take some encouragement from my friends and the instructors to get me to have a go, but I was just so glad that I did. It’s the type of activity where you’ll really have to push yourselves but then feel amazing once you have!
One activity that has really exploded in terms of popularity in the last year or two is laser tag. Battlefield Manchester has a huge outdoor arena for you ladies to play in as you try to take each other down with some really cool-looking laser guns (they look like they’re from the future). This is a little bit like paintballing for beginners. It has all the fun of paintballing but you get an unlimited amount of ammo and you don’t get any welts or bruises after being shot like you can do with paintballing. This activity makes you feel like a child again as you run around the woods. When you go home and tell the kids that you’ve been playing laser tag, they’ll be very jealous … and then nag you to take them!
Finally, here’s one of the real classics when it comes to putting together a Manchester hen weekend – go karting. I’ve got friends who don’t drive but I’ve never been go karting with someone who hasn’t been able to pick it up. This is a really cool track that lets you go really fast as you try to take the top spot on the podium at the end of the day. This is just all about having a wild and fun time and that is what a hen weekend is all about if you ask me. So, let go of your inhibitions and have a fantastic time with a few hours of go kart racing!
Want More? Well Here’s Even More Amazing Manchester Hen Day Ideas!
Here are four more exciting, fun and crazy hen day ideas for you ladies.
You don’t get much crazier than taking part in It's A Knockout. For those of you who don’t know (or are too young), this was a very popular TV show similar to Total Wipeout today. Well, now you can take part in a whole host of madcap games that will see you battle it out in giant inflatable suits, try to outrun each other in weird bungee races and so much more. You never know what’s around the corner when you take part in It’s A Knockout.
This may not be all that original but a game of paintball is always a hit with hen groups. Of course, this has everything you would expect from paintballing as you are split into two teams with your own choice of game scenario before heading off to war! But what makes this one that little bit cooler is that this place has a bit of A-list history. This venue is popular with celebrities and it has even been used for films and TV shows! For a wild few hours, paintballing is hard to beat.
Next up is one of the strangest activities I’ve ever done (and I’ve tried a lot of weird stuff!). Breakout is like a game/puzzle where you are locked in a room and then have to solve a series of tricky puzzles to escape. They are all mental puzzles and you’ll need to get your brain into gear to work out how to get away. It’s a bit like the horror film Saw but without all the contraptions that can kill you! Manchester is the only place where I have come across this type of activity so I really recommend that you check it out during your hen weekend.
The guys at Sphere mania are all about balls! Big giant balls, I might add. You may think I’m being a bit dirty (which, let’s face it, I kind of was) but I’m actually talking about zorbing! With zorbing, you climb into these big inflatable balls and then roll around like some kind of crazy person. You can race or just bump into each other. If you want to take things even further, then you can try water zorbing where you get into a ball with water so you get that real ‘washing machine’ experience. No matter which type of zorbing you try, you’ll have a great laugh.
Doing The Right Things In Manchester
Here is a little guide to the nice places to eat, the taxi firms to use, and other important information for your Manchester hen weekend.
A Good Breakfast
While Home Sweet Home may be on the small size, this is still a really nice place to go for a good breakfast. It doesn’t matter whether you are in the mood for a nice big fry-up, some smoked salmon or something lighter like a bagel, you’ll be well taken care of here.
A Rocking Place For Lunch
With its amazing music history, it would be a crime to come to Manchester and not go to the Hard Rock Cafe. Whether you want the world-famous Legendary Burger or something else from the extensive (although a bit pricey) menu, you’ll be very well fed in this diner. And, of course, the main reason you come here is for all the cool music memorabilia on display!
Getting A Taxi In Manchester
As with most cities this size, getting a taxi in Manchester is no problem at all. So, if you’ve had a few too many lunchtime cocktails and cannot walk, then call Street Cars, Manchester Cars or one of the other million taxi firms and they’ll take good care of you.
Is There A Bad Time To Come To Manchester?
To tell the truth, not really! As with most other ‘popular with tourists’ cities, Manchester is pretty busy all year round. If you hate football (like me!), then you may want to avoid the day that United play City as the place is just overtaken by football fever!
What About A Fun Festival?
The best festival to have fun in Manchester (in my humble opinion) is the Manchester Pride Festival which has a little bit of everything including parades, music, arts and so much more.
Getting Medicine, Bandages & Other Things To Make You Feel Better
There are loads of pharmacies in Manchester. The easiest and most convenient (they sell other stuff here as well) is the Asda pharmacy which is open pretty late. So, if you do need something like headache tablets, plasters or whatever, you’ll be able to get sorted here.
